By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. These Terms also incorporate our Privacy Policy by reference. If you are using the Services on behalf of an organisation or ministry, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. Where updates are made, the “Last updated” date will change, and continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Purpose & Christian Identity

The Safari App exists to support Christian discipleship, spiritual growth, learning, fellowship, and ministry coordination consistent with the biblical mission and values of C.I.T.A.M. The community is intended to be Christ-honouring, respectful, and aligned with Christian conduct. The Services are not intended to replace local church leadership, pastoral care, professional counselling, or medical, legal, or financial advice. You are encouraged to seek appropriate support when needed and to exercise wisdom and discernment.

3. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old (or older where required by law) to create an account, unless your participation is supervised by a parent or guardian. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information and to maintain the confidentiality of your credentials and all activity under your account. You are responsible for any use of your account and for promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorised access or security incidents. We may require additional verification or impose reasonable restrictions to protect the community and platform integrity.

4. Community Conduct

You agree to engage in a manner consistent with Christian love, respect, humility, truth, and applicable law. You must not harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against others. You must not post unlawful, obscene, misleading, or harmful content.

• Do not impersonate others or misrepresent identity or affiliation.
• Do not attempt to bypass security, access restricted areas, or disrupt the Services.
• Do not use the platform for fraud, exploitation, or unauthorised commercial solicitation.

We may take action (including moderation, restriction, suspension, or termination) to protect the community, enforce these Terms, comply with legal obligations, or uphold safeguarding requirements.

5. User-Generated Content

The Services may allow you to submit content including posts, messages, reflections, testimonies, or prayer requests (“User Content”). You remain responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the right to share it and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law. User Content represents the views of the individual user and does not necessarily reflect the views of C.I.T.A.M. We are not responsible for decisions made based on User Content. We reserve the right (but are not obligated) to moderate, remove, restrict, or preserve User Content where necessary for safety, integrity, compliance, or community well-being.

6. Spiritual & Educational Disclaimer

Content provided through the Services is intended for spiritual growth and educational purposes only. It does not constitute medical, legal, financial, psychological, or other professional advice. You remain responsible for decisions and actions taken based on content accessed through the Services. Where the Services include course content or learning materials, outcomes may vary depending on participation, context, and personal circumstances. We do not guarantee any specific spiritual, educational, or practical outcomes.

7. Giving, Payments & Subscriptions (Where Applicable)

Where giving, payments, or subscriptions are enabled, transactions may be processed by third-party providers. C.I.T.A.M does not store full payment card details and relies on payment providers for secure processing. Transaction details, any access rights, and any applicable refund rules will be disclosed at the point of payment where applicable. You are responsible for ensuring payment information is accurate and authorised. We may restrict access to paid features where payments fail, are reversed, or are reasonably suspected to be fraudulent or unauthorised.

8. Privacy

9. Intellectual Property

All content provided by C.I.T.A.M through the Services (excluding User Content), including course materials, text, graphics, logos, and audio/video content, is owned by or licensed to C.I.T.A.M and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit C.I.T.A.M content without prior written permission.

The Services may include links to or integrations with third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, practices, or policies of third parties. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies.

11. Suspension & Termination

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the Services (with or without notice) if these Terms are violated, required by law, safeguarding obligations apply, or it is necessary to protect the community or platform integrity. We may also take reasonable steps to prevent repeat abuse.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available” and we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation. C.I.T.A.M is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by law, including any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply in your jurisdiction.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless C.I.T.A.M, its leaders, staff, volunteers, and partners from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Changes to Services/Terms

We may modify or discontinue parts of the Services from time to time for operational, security, ministry, or legal reasons. We may also update these Terms as needed. Where practical, we will provide notice through the Services or by updating the “Last updated” date.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, without prejudice to mandatory rights applicable in other jurisdictions.

1. Definitions

Personal Data means information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. Processing means any operation performed on Personal Data, such as collection, storage, use, disclosure, or deletion. Data Subject is the person whose Personal Data is processed. Controller refers to C.I.T.A.M, unless stated otherwise. Child means a person under 16 years of age (or higher where required by law).

We process Personal Data lawfully, fairly, and transparently. We limit Processing to specific purposes and collect only what is necessary to deliver and improve the Services. We take reasonable steps to keep data accurate and up to date where appropriate. We apply storage limitation by retaining data only as long as needed, and we use safeguards to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Personal Data.

3. What Data We Collect

3.1 Data you provide

When you create an account or use community and learning features, you may provide information such as your name, email address, profile details, assembly/ministry affiliation, and other information you choose to submit. If you enrol in courses or participate in groups, we may store related participation records to provide the Services effectively.

3.2 Data collected automatically

When you use the Services, we may collect technical data such as IP address, device/browser information, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, and activity logs. This helps us secure the platform, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance and reliability.

3.3 Data from service providers

Where payments, security monitoring, email delivery, or analytics tools are enabled, we may receive limited data from those providers (for example: payment confirmation, fraud alerts, email delivery status, or aggregated usage metrics). We use such data only for operating and safeguarding the Services.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use Personal Data to operate, maintain, and improve the Services, including managing accounts, enabling participation in groups and ministries, delivering course content, and supporting communication and notifications. We also use data to provide customer support and respond to enquiries. Where giving, payments, or subscriptions are enabled, we process relevant data to facilitate those transactions and maintain appropriate records. We may also use certain data to protect platform integrity (for example: preventing spam, fraud, or unauthorised access).

5. Legal Bases for Processing

We process Personal Data based on one or more lawful grounds, depending on the situation. Backup data is not actively processed and is permanently deleted as backups are rotated.

Where available, you can manage privacy requests through our self-service tools. These tools allow you to request a copy of your data (data portability) or permanently delete your account and Personal Data from the active system.

Deletions are intended to be irreversible from active systems. Some information may remain temporarily in secure backups and will be removed as backups are rotated, subject to legal requirements.

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember preferences, improve performance, and understand usage patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may affect certain features. Where analytics tools are enabled, information is typically collected in an aggregated form to measure traffic and usage trends. The Services are not intended for unsupervised use by children. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children without appropriate parent/guardian involvement. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a child’s use of the Services and guiding appropriate participation.
